Impact Parent Information

Welcome parents!  One of our goals at Hope Center is to partner with parents in the development of their adolescent children.  Ultimately, we hope this website is a helpful resource to you in encouraging your student(s) towards a deeper connection in Christ. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here are responses to some frequently asked questions:

What is the focus of HopeCenter’s youth ministry?
Hope Center’s youth ministry is essentially comprised of three different groups: Impact (7th and 8th grade), Max (high school) and The Commons (college and young adult).  We believe that discipleship is a process of developing each person the following three things: a worshipful relationship with Christ as depicted through the Bible, Christ-centered community or relationships and the pursuit of both the corporate and individual callings that God places on our lives.  Therefore, we simply emphasize three things in the spiritual development of our young people: Christ, Community and Calling.  These three emphases run as threads through our entire ministry including the three age groups.

When and where do we meet?
Both our Junior High and High School programs meet twice weekly.  Both meet together on Sunday mornings for worship at 9am.  Then each has a midweek small group program; the junior high students meet Wednesday nights at 7pm and the high school students meet Thursday nights at 7pm.  All are held at Hope Center Covenant Church, 2275 Morello Avenue in Pleasant Hill.

What will my child be doing?
Sundays we gather for worship, activities and teaching.  At the mid-week programs we gather for small groups where students are grouped by grade and gender with some activities mixed in.  We also have camps, retreats and other outside activities that arise throughout the year.

What is my role as a parent in this ministry?
We want to a support and encouragement to you and your family in accordance with Christ’s teachings.  Your role then becomes helping us to help your students grow in every way God would have for them.  Sometime this simply means having open communication with our staff about any specific needs you or your student has.  Other times we’ve seen parents take a more prominent role in serving regularly or semi-regularly alongside our current volunteers.  No matter what, we desire to be in relationship with you and invite you into our processes of student discipleship.

How much does it cost to participate in the program?
Absolutely nothing! Both midweek and Sunday meetings are absolutely free, and open to ALL students. Some events and trips however, have additional registration fees to cover the costs of the event itself.  Financial aid is available on a case by case basis.  Click here to see HopeCenter’s financial aid application.

Who can I talk to if I have more questions?
If you still have questions, you can contact Ian Longtin, Pastor of Youth and Young Adults at 925-685-4673 ext. 15.
